Job Description
GBM's HPC Team is responsible for the management and ongoing development of the grid architectures based on the DataSynapse Grid Server and Oracle Coherence technology- As part of the company wide transformation programme it is establishing a new Operational Team to provide support for the growing Grid Platforms within GBM Technology-
Responsibilities
Activities: What does the jobholder have to do?
· Provide hands-on operational support for the HPC Enterprise Grid environments deployed globally · Participate in Team Rota covering 07:00 to 19:00 Mon to Fri as well as evening/weekend on call · Work closely with Application Development teams to provide support to their shared grid environments · Assist in the management of the team workload to ensure the level of responsiveness meets customer expectations · Contribute to continuous improvement of operational processes · Size of Team - Three including Team Manager Deliverables: What are the key outcomes and what does the jobholder have to produce (objectives)?

The Individual
Experience and Technical Competence-
Essential: Desirable: · 5+ years experience of Production Support role
· 5+ years in depth knowledge of Linux/Solaris or Windows
· Demonstrable capability of debugging problems from the command line, system logs and SQL queries
· Strong change management and process discipline - Understanding of Investment Banking
industry and the role of technology within it
· Experience of development support - code release and code management
· Application and Infrastructure deployment within Investment Banking and Trading Institutions Essential: Desirable: · Good general knowledge of distributed system architectures (OS, TCP/IP Networking, Database, NAS/SAN, High Availability)
· Knowledge of one or more Web / Application Server Environments (Examples - JBoss, Apache, Tomcat, Resin, WebLogic, Azul, IIS, -NET) · Experience of working in technology supporting one (or more) Investment Banking business area
· Experience of Grid Architectures - Datasynapse, Platform Computing, Oracle Coherence
· Experience of Open Source Systems Management Platforms - Ganglia, Nagios
· Experience of Managing Shared Services - Web Farms, Virtual Environments
· Good scripting skills - Unix Shell, VBScript, Perl
· Development Experience - C# or Java
