RBS Global Banking & Markets are the Investment Banking arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group- We are looking for highly skilled and motivated individual to act as principle Network Design Engineer within our core data networking engineering team- The role will report to the Head of Network Engineering within Network Services Team-
Requirements
Essential Experience: · Minimum of 5 years experience in designing high end Networking Solutions using Cisco products · CCIE accreditation or proven technical capability to CCIE standard in an Investment Banking scenario
· Experience as a technical lead in a global engineering function and associated global governance processes · Strong understanding of trading systems network requirements, with critical focus high volume multicast delivery- · In depth knowledge of the Cisco product set, down to component architecture, specifically the 6500 Catalyst switch range · Demonstrable appreciation of Security products from Cisco (ASA, MARS, CSM) · Demonstrable appreciation Cisco security best practice for the deployment of routers and switches
· Proven experience producing design technical architecture pattern documents
· Demonstrable appreciation of Network considerations to support leading edge server and application architectures, including Blade servers, High Performance Computing, Grid and server virtualisation
· Communication skills to promote the governance process and coach other team members to comply with the governance process
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrable appreciation of SSLVPN remote access solutions ( preferably Juniper IVE) Supplementary Experience: · Appreciation of Cisco NAC architectures and design
· Checkpoint Firewall and VPN design/configuration experience (on a Nokia platform)
· Experience of working in a large organisation
· Proven experience of designing Secure DMZ infrastructure to support Internet/Ecommerce environments and Market Data/Third Party environments- (Including server load balancing technologies)
· Juniper SSL VPN (IVE) design/configuration experience
· Previous experience of solutions deployed for large company integrations
· Appreciation of DNS, AD authentication, NAT, proxies etc
Responsibilities
· Core contributor to the NEF governance process with review of submissions and guidance on technical compliance- · Core contributor to Engineering standards review and development- · High level solution design consultancy · Hardware product review and recommendation including test and sign-off onto the Technology Menu · Software review and recommendation including test and sign-off · Hands on technical configuration of a variety of established and new technologies for evaluation/ development- · Design team leadership for other Network Services teams in project and BAU support · Third Line support to the operations team as required (Predominately severity 1 & 2 incident response) · Administration of the NEF & IEA governance processes and supporting documents- · Leading technology change to enable cost saving initiatives in Network Services · Contributor to IE&A governance process · Contributor to IE&A strategic initiatives-
