Job Description RBS Global Banking and Markets has a major programme underway to improve the technology underpinning its Credit Risk function- Over the next few years, we will be rolling out a number of strategic architecture enhancements, including extending and re-engineering the derivatives risk engine, and a brand new global user interface- This role calls for a Graduate Trainee developer to work on the strategic counterparty credit risk platform developed in Java/Sybase- The successful candidate will join the Exposure & Capital Risk Measurementwork-stream, comprising approximately 20 analysts and developers - Requirements Candidate profile · The candidate will have the ability to work well both independently and within a team, and have the requisite communication skills to be able to liaise directly with analysts and business users- · The candidate will be methodical and will (eventually) be able to produce well structured Java code which can easily be maintained by other team members- · The candidate will enjoy problem solving, both logical and mathematical, and be able to learn with minimal direction- Technical knowledge · Some experience of structured programming, could be work experience or an undergraduate project- Business Knowledge · Basic understanding of financial terms and products- · Good understanding of mathematics, specifically linear algebra- Additional Useful Skills: Technical knowledge · Knowledge of Java · Understanding of basic SQL The Individual · Strong and innovative approach to problem solving and finding solutions- · Good communication skills both written and verbal- · Strong personal ownership of assignments- · Flexible and pro-active work style- Must possess a strong sense of initiative- · Ability to assimilate detail and operate with a precise approach to tasks and requirements-
