A great opportunity to join the Central Lean team within our Strategy & Architecture function-
Job Description We are recruiting for the role of Transformation Approach Lead to join our Central Lean Practice within the groups Strategy & Architecture function- As part of the Service Management within Strategy and Architecture, the Central Lean Practice play's a key role in building and deploying a Group-wide Lean capability to drive improvement in service delivery while developing a customer driven culture across all divisions- Our Central Lean Practice also develop the RBS Lean way, Lean methodology, Lean expert recruitment, Lean training and development, executive management education and communication, sustainability and quality assurance, and drive Lean deployments- As a key member of the Central Lean Practice, this senior role will own and manage the RBS Lean methodology and continuously seek to benchmark this methodology against best practices, helping RBS to become a world-class Lean institution- Requirements - Own and maintain Lean deployment planning methodology and expertise for programme design
- Own and maintain overall domain mapping, heat mapping and deployment planning methodologies for RBS
- Educate Lean community and Central Lean Practice staff on deployment planning methodology
- Establish credibility quickly internally and externally as a Lean deployment planning expert
- Continuously update, improve and publish reference documents for methodologies above, based on feedback from Lean teams in the divisions
- Syndicate methodology with key business leaders and stakeholders to adapt it to new divisions ("fit for purpose")
- Facilitate customization of this methodology across a very diverse business model and set of operations
- Own and maintain the standard 16-week RBS Lean project model, as well as conceptual end-to-end and Lean before automation project methodologies
- Select examples and case studies from deployment teams to update Lean project model with real-life examples, and release new version of the project model before the beginning of each Lean project wave-
- Liaise with Lean Academy to develop best-in-class training modules and close any gaps associated with the model
- Identify dependencies and opportunities for improving the overall Group transformation approach; and execute these through formal, informal and other networking opportunities
- Provide support and world-class expertise to the Lean Academy to build and develop Lean expertise within the Central practice and for the Group
- Participate in leading Lean seminars and conferences in the UK and abroad to track trends and successes in financial services and service operations
- Benchmark Group Lean expertise and performance, as well as delivery of the Lean programme, against other financial services institutions of similar size to make sure RBS is using the best methodology
Deliverables - Make Lean deployment planning methodology and updated documents available to the Central Lean Practice and Lean teams
- Deliver updated rollout model (including real-life example from previous projects / waves)
- Frequent benchmarks against other Lean programmes / practices at other financial services institutions
- Create and manage reports to the Central Lean Practice and Service Management board on maturity of Central Lean Practice and industry trends (from other financial services institutions)
- Deliver Project Model training before the beginning of each wave (bootcamp)
- Deliver Project Model training to Central Lean practice for new hires
- Setup Q&A session / call with Lean Leaders and Change Agents before each project
- Develop simplified training module to educate Lean community on Lean Project Model
- Develop simplified training module / introductory course on Lean, in cooperation with (and for) Lean Academy · Manage training module to educate Lean community on deployment planning techniques and methodology
- Influencing activities across senior peer group
- Manage team of 2 analysts (ML 2-3) and a budget of ~£ 500 K - growing in the following waves
The Individual The ideal candidate will have - - Significant Lean leadership / expert role in financial services or Manufacturing
- Exposure to deployment planning tools and techniques in previous roles
- People management and leadership experience
- People development
- Previous experience in training and coaching senior personnel
- Familiar with matrix management techniques, understanding the importance of team strength & collaboration
- Demonstrable track record in managing and influencing senior stakeholders enabling effective change delivery
- Graduate calibre, Masters desirable in appropriate professional discipline and chartered membership of a relevant professional body-
