Background on the Department Trading Book Credit Risk Technology provides all the applications and associated support required by the Global Banking and Markets Credit Risk ( Trading Book ) business function- The department comprises a Production Support Team, a "Business As Usual" ( BAU ) Development Team ( which provides continuous development / change / enhancements as well as responding to escalations from Production Support ) and an Investment Projects' Development Team ( where projects deliver new or 'step-change' functionality )- The department is split across two locations - London and the Technology Services India (TSI) in Delhi- Closing Date: 3 rd March 2010
Job Description Role This role reports to the Delivery Manager in GBM Trading Book Credit Risk Technology based in London and will collaborate with other Release Staff based in TSI- The Release Engineer will be expected to fully contribute to all areas of release management including planning / scheduling, tools maintenance & development, source code control, build / deploy / configuration and process improvement- Requirements Good working knowledge of Sybase Transaction-SQL and Unix scripting (preferably Solaris and Linux) - shell or PERL Change and configuration management tools including CVS, Subversion, Hudson and Maven Good experience of continuous integration Autosys job scheduling Experience of working in a complex technical and distributed environment consisting of many interconnecting s ystems Additional Useful Skills: Java knowledge Experience of any grid computing technologies ( eg- Datasynapse or Oracle Coherence ) would be an advantage Degree or equivalent level of education Knowledge of Financial Markets, Credit/Market Risk business functions and experience with supporting systems would be ideal Responsibilities Planning / scheduling · Coordination of application teams to ensure builds are deployed correctly to test environments · Liaison with infrastructure teams (e-g- UNIX, Sybase) to ensure timely support of test environments · Work closely with Production Services to create plans for releases to production · Work closely with Pre Production Support to ensure smooth deployment to Pre Production environments · Document and communicate the build and release process Tools maintenance & development · Maintain the operation of essential tools and infrastructure for the department's build and release capability · Enhance tools for the benefit of the release team and the wider development community Source code control · Ensure code is consistent across all appropriate branches and the HEAD of the code · Improve existing tools for the above activity **PLEASE ASK TO SEE ROLE PROFILE FOR EXTENSIVE LIST** The Individual Self motivated - able to quickly assimilate information and resolve issues on own without guidance- Add structure/value quickly- Strong verbal and written communications skills - able to convey information clearly, concisely in a considered and structured way- Good facilitator - i-e- able to lead discussion to explore problems, gain common understanding, facilitate discussion around options and able to lead a team towards a solution or recommended set of actions- Produces high quality work - able to influence/mentor people around them to produce the same quality work- A commitment to quality- Methodical and diligent with high attention to detail- Flexible and proactive working style with ability to multi-task under pressure- Analytical mindset - good problem solving skills-
