Job Description FX-Rates, High-Frequency-Trading (HFT) and Centralised Pricing (CP) are global high performance real-time pricing platforms for Foreign Exchange- These platforms have enabled RBS to become a market Leader within the FX/ecommerce space A predominately London based team of over 20 that develop and support these systems- They are written in Java server side with a C# GUI and Oracle database- Team Structure Team of 3 in London providing FX application trading support on a shift basis- Similar teams in Asia and New York- Requirements Business knowledge FX Business / Product Knowledge (Spot, Forwards, Pricing, etc--) Technical knowledge Both FX-Rates and HFT are predominantly Linux based environments so knowledge of Unix/Shell would be required- Centralised Platform is, however, Windows based so familiarity of Windows would also be needed- SQL Queries - can be any database, eg Oracle or MS SQL-Server Additional Useful Skills: Hand-on knowledge of retrieving FX market data from Reuters trading platforms, eg, RMDS Knowledge of TIBCO/Rendezvous Responsibilities Team Function and responsibilities Application support and on-going development of the Fx-Rates, HFT and CP applications- Applications are high performance, high availability real-time pricing- The team works a 'follow-the-sun' support model where support activities are handed over region to region- The team are responsible for ensuring that pricing of FX currencies is always available via these platforms- The team endeavours to resolve any pricing, application or infrastructure related queries in the most responsive manner- Role specific responsibilities Role is for 1st / 2nd line support of the FX pricing and liquidity platforms - as mentioned above- Role typically encompasses morning checks, system configuration changes, troubleshooting user queries, supporting development with releases and changes and monitoring/management of the environment- Role would suit a graduate from a good university, with 2 year+ commercial experience- The successful candidate would be working in a Application support role in IT looking for a move to a more dynamic environment- Due to the nature of the markets the desks need to be supported from 7:00 am onwards- The team currently operate in shifts operating between 07:00 to 3-30pm and 09-30am until 6:00 pm- Weekend and Bank holiday support is often required - and is shared amongst the team- Deliverables: Quick resolution of production problems and clear feedback to traders and business management- Ownership of problems Maintain a good relationship with the traders, keeping them informed of resolutions to problems, show them how to make best use of the systems Maintenance of production systems Documentation of new procedures The Individual Ability to work under pressure and multi-task Takes ownership, pro-active individual with a keen interest to learn the business Clear, concise, confident communication with traders, projects team and within the team Keen and enthusiastic Thorough approach
