Job Description A developing purchasing professional with a good understanding of sourcing and supplier management is required to drive value from our low value spend areas and to support a business wide demand management programme- Currently £20m is spent across 1440 suppliers with a contract value of between £1 and £200k- In addition although 80% of non approved spend is channelled through approved or preferred suppliers there are in the region of 500 non approved suppliers the majority of who will be in the £1-£200k spend segment- Furthermore 30% of approved orders routed via our Oracle Eprocurement system are raised after invoices have been submitted- Requirements Graduate Level and/or working experience within a Purchasing / Supply Chain function Responsibilities - To support the development and introduction of processes agreed with the business that allow Sourcing to influence the supplier selection and terms agreed with the suppliers- - Established prioritisation plan by commodity, spend level etc - To increase the volume of orders routing through preferred or approved suppliers - To increase the compliance to channel measure - To identify areas where improved terms can be negotiated with selected suppliers when requistions / orders are raised by the business- - To identify areas where alternative suppliers can be used to provide competitive pressure against incumbent suppliers when requistions / orders are raised by the business- - To identify areas where specification and need should be challenged - To record benefits associated with above activities and agree the benefits with appropriate finance representatives - Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders, in order to determine customer needs - Support various initiatives arising from demand management programmes The Individual - Ability to work under pressure with efficiency and accuracy; - Ability to plan and prioritise workload; - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Commodity / Market Knowledge - Costs, Prices, Savings & Business Financial Mgt - Purchasing Negotiation, Skills & Techniques
