| Overview Of Department ROLE DEFINITION The role is working in Aviva Group within its Solvency II project. It involves working within the Solvency II Embedded Use Workstream team and will include the following tasks: Contributing to development of Aviva’s methodologies to demonstrate the use of Internal Models in Aviva’s business areas under Solvency II. Some of the areas involved are pricing, planning, target setting, risk and capital management. Working closely with the other Aviva Group Solvency II workstreams to ensure a consistent Solvency II implementation. Reviewing latest Solvency II guidance to understand its technical implications for the workstream and Aviva. Involvement in the completion of the Solvency II detailed requirements exercise and understanding how the gaps will be addressed. Be an ambassador for and advocate of the Group’s methodologies for meeting Solvency II Use Test Requirements. Internal: One of the contact points on Embedded Use Workstream issues around Solvency II. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS § Aviva’s Solvency II project progressing and regarded as a leading model by relevant Supervisors. § Escalation of significant issues when appropriate. § Quality and timeliness of reports, instructions presentations and advice. § Stakeholder feedback. Key Responsibilities Experience Skills & Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS A Trainee actuary or mathematical / statistical graduate with financial risk qualification. SKILLS § Understanding of economic capital requirements for insurance companies and their implications to running the business § Understanding of insurance company specific metrics such as MCEV § High level understanding of Solvency II and implications for the UK industry. § Ability to quickly interpret guidance around Solvency II as it is released § Strong analytic and communication skills with ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences § Interest in overseas cultures / languages is an advantage § Report writing skills. EXPERIENCE § Experience of insurance industry § Experience in economic capital models or MCEV.
