The Senior Functional Specialist, Finance Strategy & Development role will provide assurance to the Santander UK Financial Controller on the delivery of key transformation/ implementation projects and the accuracy and evolution of key financial data, and improve the control framework and general oversight within all areas of Finance.

As a Senior Functional Specialist, Finance Strategy & Development- your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Qualified ACA accountant
- Degree educated to 2:1 Level
- Excellent knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
- Extensive experience within the Financial Services sector.
- Good knowledge of legal, accounting and regulatory reporting frameworks and requirements for UK Financial Services companies
- Experience of working with senior business stakeholders within a large financial services firm.
- Proven experience of project oversight / management, multi-tasking, and demonstrating a flexible work approach to deliver to tight timescales.
As a Senior Functional Specialist, Finance Strategy & Development- your main responsibilities will involve:
- Contribute to strengthen the control framework and general oversight ensuring appropriate processes and procedures are in place and promoting best internal practices. Monitor and coordinate the delivery of key transformation/implementation project within Finance.
- Ensure compliance with new and existing legislation. Develop implement and monitor new standards, regulations and risk strategies in order to minimise financial loss to the company.
- Prepare and present reports to Executive/Senior Managers defining issues/areas of improvement and recommending changes as appropriate.
- Carry out a broad, technically complex, sophisticated range of activities/assignments involving the largest, highest risk Company-wide issues
- Provide additional level of assurance on the accuracy and evolution of key financial data maintaining mechanisms to ensure effective on-going monitoring of such data across the different business areas
