Background
In the UK , AXA occupies market leading positions in three of its main markets - life assurance, health insurance and general insurance. We are part of a Global Group employing over 200,000 people around the world and with 2009 revenues exceeding 90m Euros. We are looking to recruit an exceptional Senior Corporate Communications Manager to define and deliver our Communications piece as we move forward from the recent Resolution deal - a period that has seen substantial change within the AXAUK operation, but that also presents incredible opportunities to lead AXA's UK development from this point.
The role
On a day-to day basis this role will focus on managing and enhancing AXA's corporate reputation within the fiercely competitive UK financial services industry. You will work with Senior Leaders across Marketing, the UK Group, Operating Companies and external parties to define, plan and deliver a high quality media relations strategy aimed at driving the achievement of AXA's strategic business objectives. Primarily, this will entail extensive strategic management of media relations, working with your colleagues in other Marketing specialisms such as Brand and PR to ensure the external messaging is appropriate and unified. A key element of the role is to work with Senior stakeholders to deliver the financial calendar across the UK. This includes ensuring that the CEO's media programme is delivered and working with the Investor Relations team in Paris to ensure that any elements of AXA Group strategy, such as financial results or M&A, that are pertinent to the UK are broadcast correctly in the UK market. Equally important is working with Senior Stakeholders in Crisis Management situations to define the message to the UK media, possibly the most challenging stakeholder group in the current financial services climate, and coaching/leading those Senior Stakeholders at these times. As we move forward from the Resolution deal we are defining the overarching strategy for Corporate Communications and the successful individual will have a key part to play in influencing this and ultimately delivering it.
Skills, knowledge and behaviour
This is a role that requires a very strong strategic thinker with first class Senior Stakeholder management experience across the range of Corporate Communications scenarios in the UK. Its quite likely that you will come from a Corporate Affairs background, possibly a leading Corporate in a similar role though we would be very interested in hearing from Senior Account Directors within the Financial Services practice of an agency. Whilst we do not necessarily require specific financial services experience, you must be able to demonstrate that you have managed the Financial Calendar of a major listed company. It is essential that you have an extensive understanding of the UK media environment and an existing network of strong contacts within this sector to enable you to be effective from day one as you help to build and protect the reputation of the restructured AXA going forwards. Strategically capable, you will have extensive experience of delivering the Corporate Communications agenda in an environment of change where you helped to define the capability of the business to manage its public image. This experience MUST include both B2B and B2C environments.
