| Job Description |
Purpose of Role The purpose of this role is to improve the quality of decision making amongst 'front office' and 'back office' businesses within GBM by providing objective feedback on customer perceptions and behaviours using a variety of research programmes and techniques- Role Responsibilities - Establish, build and manage relationships with the senior management team and Account Management team of client businesses ensuring that they are aware of the Business Research team and its capabilities, the benefits that research can offer and the process of engagement to commission work-
To ensure adequate client feedback and business research information is available to support senior managers to make the necessary strategic decisions to take the business forward to its strategic goals (this will include the delivery of research presentations to internal audiences -- e-g- at meetings and offsites when required) - Establish and maintain relationships with external suppliers to ensure that they understand the nature of the GBM business and the role of Business Research-
- For each project within an agreed programme, work with the business to develop and deliver an agreed plan for analysis in support of business objectives-
- Explain, recommend and apply appropriate research techniques to data to extract the most useful and relevant results in accordance with business need-
- Present findings to senior/executive management in the business making recommendations for business action based on the results (e-g- RM development, resource allocation, new product development, prioritisation of areas for proposition development)-
- Evaluate business need and the value of existing surveys, and make recommendations to executive sponsors to improve the range of surveys to enhance business performance-
- Oversee the work of junior colleagues, as well as individuals outside the business research team who are conducting research activity-
- Maintain an up-to-date to knowledge of research tools and analysis techniques and make recommendations on appropriate application of these tool and techniques to meet business needs
- Define policies, standards and necessary budgets for business research
- Manage and monitor the relationships and agreements with third party suppliers
- Advise and support the business in the selection, delivery and analysis of syndicated and bespoke research programmes to ensure the research addresses business objectives
- To deliver research programmes to GBM businesses to agreed timescales and budgets
- To provide to the business research information to support the annual planning process
- To establish, build and maintain a team of technical specialists to provide support to research programmes within the business lines
- Keep the Head of Insight, the Head of Marketing and the Head of Communication & Marketing, informed of key findings and progress of various research programs Support the development of marketing strategy by working together and sharing key insights wherever possible
Experience Required for the Role Essential Experience - Extensive market research agency or client side experience and a sound working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative tool and techniques- Practical experience of research management including a balance between qualitative and quantitative programmes-
- Experience of working with senior business sponsors in a role that demands influence on research topics-
- Supplier evaluation, selection and management for projects with a typical value of £50k - £150k
- Project management in a role with significant external supplier involvement
- Relevant Market Research and Marketing skills/qualifications
- Highly competent computer skills
- Good understanding of broad range of marketing disciplines
- Good understanding of the banking sector
Beneficial Experience - Broader Marketing and business experience is helpful
- Knowledge of wholesale banking, treasury products and cash management in a business-to-business environment
- Working in a matrix organisation
- Ability to communicate in all forms to an internal audience
- Research agency experience
- Strong customer service orientation & delivery focus
- Strong consultancy, diplomacy and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complex array of stakeholders, internal and external
- Experience working with clients in international locations (including Asia, Europe, USA)
- Formal marketing/ MBA qualifications an advantage
