Purpose of the Role Responsible for driving transformational change in building world class credit management capabilities that support the Optimisation of the UK Retail Portfolio within business constraints, ensuring enhancements to the customer experience, UK Retail credit staff and the front line- Responsibilities - Develop new capability to enable the optimisation of risk adjusted return of the UK Retail portfolio, working with key stakeholders in Credit Risk, Retail Products, Customer Analytics, Group Economics and Retail Finance
- Development and effective implementation of highly sophisticated, yet practical, credit risk methodologies, models and systems that support the delivery of industry leading performance in terms in key areas such as arrears, impairments and RAROE
- Drive consistency in underlying methodology across products, ensuring existing best practice is quickly transferred to other areas
- Ensure that credit models and methodologies take account of the economic outlook and the emerging impacts, such as; integrated stress testing, economic capital and Liquidity Clearing House
- Bring knowledge of industry best practice and emerging practices from retail banking, and where appropriate, other industries
- Leverage the wider UK Retail investment in Customer Analytics and Systems to continually improve, both in terms of the level of granularity and the cohesive approach to credit modelling at a customer level
- Drive efficiencies in model usage leading to reduction in time taken to run analysis and enable a greater use of scenarios and sensitivity analysis to be undertaken
- Develop the technical capabilities of the Credit Portfolios team to deliver the key objectives - matrix management of staff and other team resources to achieve deliverables on a wide range of projects/tasks, and coach and develop the skills and effectiveness of the team
The Individual - Exceptional analytical and statistical knowledge with strong grounding in, and experience of the application of concepts including; Risk Adjusted Returns, risk based pricing, portfolio management, stress testing and statistical analysis
- Experience of credit scoring and statistical modelling and an in-depth knowledge of tools such as SAS
- Strong strategic awareness and proven communication skills to simplify complex issues to ensure appropriate business support for new ideas
- A learning mindset with experience of bringing ideas/learning/concepts from elsewhere, combining them into practical and effective solutions to address business issues, and driving them to implementation to deliver business benefit
- Well developed project management skills as evidenced by track record in delivering proposals and initiatives on time, within budget without sacrificing quality and ability to plan and organise own workload and those of others
- Effective investment in people demonstrated through promoting involvement of others in decision making and problem solving at appropriate level and experience of developing and motivating a team
- Evidence of ability to effectively engage and influence a wide range of stakeholder groups- Able to communicate at a senior level within the Bank resulting in acceptance of a number of initiatives by senior management
