Background AXA Insurance is one of the largest general insurers in the UK and underwrites a broad range of products for individuals and businesses. This vacancy has arisen as the current job holder has left the organisation. You will be based in either our Reading or London office. You will be working with the Regional Management team within AXA Commercial. Commercial Intermediary contributes a significant level of business to AXAI and is a profitable part of the organisation. The Regions are responsible for sales, servicing and trading for all our customers in Commercial Intermediary (excluding property owners team). Your challenge will be to develop and manage a team of regional underwriters, some of which will be LIW, as well as drive the Regional new business strategy across both London and Reading Trading Centres. The role The purpose of this job is to lead and manage the Development Underwriter function across the region and lead the delivery of new business trading in order to deliver profit and income targets. Your key accountabilities are to; - Manage a team of Development Underwriters across the region to maximise income and profit for all designated panel intermediaries.
- Develop a continual robust communication plan to maximise the benefits of the proposition in line with our Distribution strategy.
- Support and influence the annual business planning process including new deals and ensure links into the Development Underwriter targets in order to deliver the agreed plans.
- Manage the performance and personal development of Development Underwriters and their support staff including technical, relationship management and management of skills development in order to increase capability.
- Analyse and interpret intermediary feedback and performance and adjust service proposition and dedicated broker panels to achieve optimum results.
- Develop and implement a strategy for new business trading across the region including monitoring and reporting overall performance to achieve planned targets.
- Personally own a panel of key customers and responsible for all escalations and decision making within empowerment level to deliver profitable growth.
- Lead and manage all sales campaign activity within the region to improve new business performance.
Skills, knowledge and behaviour - Progress towards ACII Qualification desirable.
- Strong level of technical underwriting expertise in a commercial insurance environment.

- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the commercial insurance market.
