Santander are seeking a Media Relations Manager to help manage the liaison between the company and the media to ensure all broadcast, electronic and print media present the company in the most favourable light possible. You will assist the Senior Media Relations Managers in implementing media plans and assist in the day-to-day running of the Media Relations function.
Key Responsibilities: § Help the Senior Media Relations Managers and Head of Media Relations to develop written media relations plans in response to briefs from business areas § Develop a strategy for effective PR plan implementation. § Work with business areas to Recommendation of creative and cost effective PR activities within agreed time frame and budgets. § Generate neutral to favourable media coverage through positive promotion of products, services and other news. § Building a dialogue and good working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure that the right messages get to the right audiences at the right time § Build a dialogue and good working relationships with numerous external sources e.g. journalists and suppliers. § Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of media coverage ensuring that plans and actions are aligned to Santander's strategic aims.
In order to be successful in this role it is essential that you are able to gather knowledge of Santander's UK businesses and its subsidiary companies, including details of products offered, awareness of competitors products, and good working knowledge of procedures and policies (or able to source them at short notice). You should have a good understanding of UK media and a network of relevant UK press and media contacts and be able to liaise with them showing sensitivity and discretion, often handling confidential information. You should have a proven track record of achievement and a proven track record of achievement and experience in public relations/marketing, either consultancy or in-house.
