| Job Description |
Job Description The Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management team, within GBM Capital and Balance Sheet Management (CBSM), works with all GBM businesses to deliver the proactive management of the balance sheet & funding issues on behalf of GBM ALCO- It owns and updates GBM policies for liquidity management (including embedding funding costs in transfer pricing and client pricing for all products and businesses), assesses funding requirements of GBM's businesses, devises methodology for allocation of funding costs and is responsible for derivation of cash flows for normal and liquidity stress scenarios, contingent planning etc- Responsibilities The role holder will be part of the team which is involved in : - Establishment of the GBM policies, methodologies and frameworks and implementation across the GBM balance sheet
- Role holder will be expected to work on 'from the scratch' policy / methodology development on various policies related to transfer policies which attribute funding costs to different trading and banking businesses and into client pricing for various products- This will include scoping, existing status analysis, SME interaction, conceptualisation policy approach, modelling, listing control and governance framework, impact analysis on businesses, syndication to businesses
- The role holder will be able to establish credibility and work closely with key SMEs (from businesses) and other stakeholders like Group Treasury, STMF, Finance and wider GBMT teams to devise effective policies
- Timely and phased (tactical and strategic solutions) implementation of GBM ALCO approved policies - This will involve policy paper approval from ALCO, project definition for finance, systems etc- to deliver so the policy can be implemented (involves business requirement definition, interface with support functions) and active project management against agreed timelines for milestones
- Effective ownership of policies post implementation by getting involved in awareness sessions, acting as a point of contact and escalation for businesses on policy related issues, taking decisions on tactical fixes- Also monitor adherence to policy, present regular update and analysis of business impact to GBM ALCO and review policies as needed
- Being part of the team engaged in devising appropriate methodology, models, and processes for funding forecasts, planning and allocation for GBM businesses- Also, devising limit structures for GBM businesses relevant for achieving funding and b/Sheet metrics as proposed by Group and the ones which are needed to optimally manage GBM's funding and b/sheet shape & term profile
- Undertaking impact analysis of new liquidity regulatory framework
- Prepare regular updates to GBM ALCO on the trends of GBM funding needs, balance sheet size/profile and analysis of the main drivers of the same
Deliverables - Formulation of robust and comprehensive policy framework covering GBM balance sheet and liquidity (including funding policies for all products, funding operating models, governance, limit structure etc)
- Timely and phased (tactical and strategic solutions) implementation of GBM ALCO approved policies (across all businesses) by formulating business requirements for Finance, IT etc- to deliver policies and driving the projects within agreed deadlines
- Devising appropriate methodology, models, and processes for funding forecasts, planning and allocation for GBM businesses
- Monitor adherence to set policies, ensure effective ownership of policies by acting as a point of contact and escalation for businesses, present regular update and analysis of business impact to GBM ALCO and review policies as needed
The Individual Experience - Broad knowledge of banking & trading businesses
- Familiarity with credit/liquidity risk, finance processes, funding or other ALM perspective desirable
- Policy making experience (for risk, transfer pricing liquidity, funding desk operating models) or aptitude-
Qualifications - Academically strong background
- Accountancy, Treasury qualification or MBA Finance desirable but not essential
Technical - Understanding of key funding issues, client pricing mechanisms,
- Asset and Liability Management especially Liquidity desirable
- Excel, Powerpoint, basic modelling skills needed
Personal Attributes - Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, drive to grapple with complex, untested issues and formulate possible solutions
