Background AXA Insurance is one of the largest general insurers in the UK and underwrites a broad range of products for individuals and businesses. Products are distributed primarily through brokers and corporate partners, with a growing presence in the direct market through its website www.axa.co.uk and Swiftcover, the 100% online insurance provider. You will develop, service, maintain and deliver a strategic broker plan with and through the Commercial Distribution Mid Market Team, optimising income and profit by identifying new opportunities in the market and building and enhancing relationships with key brokers. You will be optimising leverage and influencing the strategic direction and growth of up to four of AXA's Mid-Market brokers. This role can be based anywhere in the UK, either working from home or one of our UK sites. There is a Southern bias in that most of your customers will have London Head Office locations. The role - Solely responsible for preparation, design, implementation and review of an agreed strategic development plan.
- Optimising income and profit from your brokers by understanding their business plans and taking appropriate action to capitalise on this.
- Negotiating terms of the business agreement with the Distribution Senior Management Team.
- Plan, forecast and set the operational targets (including the budget and the financial model) with your brokers Senior Management Team to deliver the strategic development plan.
- Review progress of initiatives against plan and take remedial action as appropriate.
- Understand in its entirety the nature of your broker's business, its marketplace and the extent and potential of the relationship.
- Identify potential new opportunities and markets to enhance and further relationship with your brokers.
- Ensure realisation of profitable relationship with your brokers, includes an appropriate remuneration package and credit control standards.
- Assisting in leading, managing and developing the Mid-market team to realise their capability level and deliver business objectives.
- Proactively seek broker feedback on Axa performance and delivery.
- Ensure an effective infrastructure and establish best practice across all product lines for service delivery and cost allocation.
- Ensure that our service delivery complies with regulatory requirements.
- Seek further opportunities by working in conjunction with other areas of Distribution, AXAI and also AXA Life and AXA PPP.
Skills, knowledge and behaviour - ACII qualification or equivalent preferred.
- Degree level education or equivalent preferred.
- Good understanding of underwriting & risk management principles.
- Good understanding of both Commercial and Personal Broker markets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to develop reciprocal relationships with intermediaries.
- People and resource management skills.
- Strategic Management skills desirable.
- Highly motivated and capable of working across function and within a team.
- Understanding profitability of business within the intermediary channel.
- Advanced sales and negotiation skills.
- Proven relationship management and negotiating experience at Senior level.
- Technical Insurance or Financial Service/retail background in a consumer oriented environment.
- Experience of managing a team preferable.
- Experience of business planning essential.
