Overview of Department The Investment reporting team is within With Profit(WP) production and is part of Finance Operations Shared Services ('FOSS'). This is a centre of operational excellence created by developing a forensic understanding of the reporting processes to minimise production time and errors and increase frequency. In addition, the FOSS teams will generate business insights for Specialist Services and Business Partnering through proactive provision of knowledge and recommendations based on a detailed understanding of data. The wider WP team comprises sub teams responsible for WP reporting production, IFRS and MCEV consolidated reporting along with the successful delivery of Wagner, Heritage and Finance Transformation. The Investment reporting team itself has responsibility for the accurate accounting, reporting and control of the majority of investments within NU Life and Joint Venture entities. We work closely with internal customers across AVIVA and in particular at present with Project Wagner, to support the successful implementation of the programme. Our team is also responsible for managing and maintaining key relationships with Aviva Investors and JP Morgan About The Role Salary range - £42,300 - £63,480 depending on experience and to cover Maternity leave until the end of February 2010 This role supports the Investment reporting team through a challenging period where Wagner and Finance Transformation (FT) are due to deliver at the same time. This is along with ensuring the quality of regular deliverables and relationship management with key stakeholders are maintained. You'll need to be proactive to keep on top of the plethora of deliverables that come out of the team. Key Responsibilities - Oversight of regular monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc investment reporting processes, ensuring these are delivered to high quality and within relevant timescales;
- Oversight of the investment reporting work which is being offshored to ensure our model continues to be aligned to that of the wider team, training occurs to high quality and on schedule, processes are well documented in the Documented Procedure Manuals and these then start to be appropriately monitored in liaison with the wider Service Delivery team;
- Liaison with the relevant stakeholders of the team to ensure that their needs continue to be met throughout Wagner / FT / offshoring delivery;
- Proactively continue the initiative to drive through the production of regular and comprehensive controls management information in liaison with Aviva Investors / JP Morgan, in line with FRCF requirements;
- Ensure that the improvements to processes and controls over less liquid assets have occurred and continue to operate / be evidenced at each key reporting period;
- Proactively manage the Investment reporting team, including working with them to manage their objectives and personal development plans.
Experience Skills & Qualifications - Professionally qualified accountant preferred or suitably qualified by experience
- Ability to work autonomously where possible and proactively move issues / matters to resolution
- Understanding of wider business and commercial issues
- Understand the needs of our end customers
- Working knowledge of life insurance accounting principles and reporting bases would be a dvantageous
- Experience of working in a finance environment
- Previous successful team leadership/management
