Job Description Through leveraging suppliers' and partners' own research, development and innovation, the Strategy and Architecture (S&A) Research and Innovation team (R&I) offers leading edge thinking and solutions to Group issues and challenges, supplementing its own in-house capability- The Strategic Vendor Management (SVM) team is a key part of this activity; identifying key strategic partners who have invested in developing their own expertise, and collaborating with them to ensure RBS has a forwards looking focus and is able to leverage new thinking and application development by aligning it to customer and business goals- This Senior Manager role will lead a team of up to 10 people, report to the Head of R&I, and be responsible for prioritising the team's engagement model with supply partners to optimise these 3rd party opportunities- Requirements Leadership Capability Framework Personal skills Strategic Process Business Delivery and Financial Performance People Management Customers' Expectations Risk and Control Responsibilities - Engaging with senior decision-making stakeholders across the businesses to understand their strategies and key objectives/problems which can be informed or addressed by supply-market capabilities and solutions
- Understanding market trends and industry dynamics and using this insight to inform senior decision-making stakeholders what this means/could mean to their business and customers
- Working with a dynamic set of carefully selected suppliers to understand supply-side capabilities and solutions that could improve our business performance- This may involve the co-development of market-leading propositions
- Make recommendations to senior decision-making stakeholders on which suppliers can/could help them improve their business with suitable evidence and justification
- Inform and challenge Group processes and services by introducing innovation and disruptive thinking from the supply market
- Engage suppliers and emergent suppliers so that they make a positive contribution to the Group
- Facilitate supplier forums and spotlights that 1) address a specific set of needs from a business or 2) sets forth a set of capabilities or solutions that could deliver business improvements
- Produce a set of supply-side capabilities that could create market-leading propositions for our customers
- Will be required to manage, motivate and co-ordinate both small and large cross-functional teams
The Individual - Significant varied experience in relationship management and strategic planning with senior stakeholders at a managerial/leadership level
- Experience of securing the buy-in for joint investment/co-development between the Bank and suppliers to develop new solutions
- Must develop strong and effective working relationships with internal stakeholders at various levels across the Group
- Persuasive presenter, facilitator and negotiator with the ability to engage and gain support throughout the Group and with external partners
- Ability to drive change and lead extended/multi-functional project teams to develop creative and innovative solutions for complex requirements without the direct authority over team members
- Experience of strategic development with effective application in a complex business environment
- Experience of relationship management and cross-functional networking amongst people with influence
