This is a great opportunity to join the expanding and high profile SSF (Shared Services Finance) Risk & Regulatory Reporting team, and to develop relationships and knowledge across several areas of the Group- This role offers the successful candidate a chance to extend their knowledge of the Group's regulatory requirements and risk environment and gives the opportunity to develop "best practice" processes and controls within a Financial Control environment-
Purpose of the role Reporting to the Central Financial Controller, the role holder will support the Retail, Wealth, Ulster and UK Corporate Banking divisions and will be responsible for collaborating to deliver BAU and adhoc outputs to customers in Group Chief Accountant's, Divisional Risk & Finance teams, other areas of Financial Control, other areas of Shared Services Finance, and external audit- To do this the following tasks/skills will be required: · Proactive management, liaison and point of contact within the Risk & Regulatory Reporting team, to resolve issues impacting Risk & Regulatory reporting including associated processes and reporting, without the need to refer upwards- · Responsible for providing accurate and timely outputs for specific areas of the business whilst ensuring all outputs are controlled, validated and can support the decision making process- · Strong team management and organisational skills, to ensure outputs and sign-offs for the supported divisions happen in line with Group timetables and with the required supporting backup- · Support and actively promote process improvements, ensuring business as usual and development activities remain focused on Operating Model- · Embed an environment of continuous improvement into the processes which the role holder will manage- Deliverables Coordination of all aspects of risk & control reporting in Financial Control, including: · Robust understanding of all risks & issues affecting the FC-supported Divisions · Thorough review & challenge all Risk reporting · Coordination, review & challenge the Financial Controller and Finance Director Balance Sheet sign-off process, including management of all associated risks & issues · Review, challenge & coordinate sign-off of the Q8 manual return and audit committee reporting on behalf of the Divisional FD's- · Coordinate and support all risk reporting for the FC's (e-g- Self Certification Process, SOx packs, etc-) · Coordination of all Financial Control aspects of Risk Weighted Assets reporting, including: · Review, challenge & sign-off on non credit risk RWAs and operational risk RWAs · Understand, challenge & sign off the reconciliation of drawn balances to the Risk Platform · Review, challenge & coordinate FD sign-off of the Q7 manual return · Coordination & review of FSA Integrated Regulatory Reporting returns and Irish Regulator returns for onward reporting to Group Chief Accountant's- · Other regulatory outputs, including delivery of FSA fee tariff data to regulatory risk, and reporting to other regulatory bodies (e-g- The Bank of England, HM Treasury, Home Finance Forum, Lending Standards Board, Asset Protection Scheme) · Ensuring, where appropriate, all relevant activity is transitioned to or from other teams inline with the target operating model · Ad-hoc exercises as required The Individual · Strong control based background with exposure to and an appreciation of managing risk · Confident communicator at all levels (ranging from team to Finance Directors)- · Resolving complex and challenging issues · Excellent analytical skills with the ability to produce good quality and accurate output- · Works well as part of a team and can build strong relationships with customers- Technical Knowledge: · Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience · Experience in working in a finance environment and able to work in a pressured environment · Banking or Financial Services experience · A "Big 4" practice or large "blue chip" company background is preferable · Knowledge of Integrated Regulatory Reporting and Basel 2 RWA reporting · Knowledge of the Group's structure and systems an advantage
