Working within Corporate Financial Analysis, the job holder is responsible for undertaking detailed financial analysis on a specific portfolio of corporate cases within Corporate Banking- The overall objective is to ensure that credit decisions are taken on the basis of rigorous financial analysis-
Requirements Technical Skills - Typically the candidate will have undertaken financial analysis of corporate connections in previous roles OR qualified as a Chartered Accountant - Good knowledge and understanding of financial statements and an ability to construct and use financial models and spreadsheets - Strong analytical skills and an appreciation of the techniques by which companies' accounting policies can influence their disclosed profit, cash flow and balance sheet structure Personal Skills - First rate written and oral communication skills - Good planning and organising skills - Self motivation, commitment to team work, good interpersonal skills - Independence and objectivity in professional working relationships
Responsibilities
Undertaking analysis to ensure that the financial risk associated with a counterparty and transaction has been assessed objectively, including the early identification of deteriorating financial position of existing customers-
Financial modelling of lending propositions to identify critical factors affecting future performance and to assess the sensitivities of cash flows and debt coverage to changes in key assumptions-
Undertaking sectoral and peer group research on designated industries to identify current issues and trends and to improve the understanding of counterparty risk-
Supporting the relationship team in the analysis of business opportunities and participate actively in developing and structuring proposals-
Effective management of a portfolio of cases, achieving agreed turnaround times and ensuring the focus of the CFA report is appropriate for the user- Developing positive and effective relationships with the relationship manager teams, credit, other relevant areas of Corporate Banking and clients-
Demonstrating a sound assessment of the counterparty risk through the effective use of the credit grading model, with responsibility for recommending and proposing credit grades-
The Individual As a Senior Analyst you will be expected to to play an active role in providing added value analytical support in the development of profitable corporate business and to help promote the Department as a centre of excellence for financial analysis and advice-
