| Job Description |
Job Description The GBM European Operations Centre (EOC) provides a range of operational services for both internal and external customers- The centre is located across two UK sites (Newcastle-Under-Lyme and Manchester) and its primary purpose is to process trades across multiple products- People here are involved in trade validation, confirmation, settlement and post-settlement support- Trade Control is a 10 person team which provides middle office operational support on a wide range of complex financial instruments for a variety of London trading desks- A Middle Office is the link between Front Office and Back Office teams and is responsible for the accuracy and controls surrounding trade capture in trade booking systems- Products within their interest rate derivatives remit include IRS, FRA, OIS, FX, CAPs/Floors, Swaptions, Range Accruals & Spread Options- Typical activities include everything from the calculation of interest payments, lifecycle management, reconciliations and general query handling- A large emphasis is put on developing processes to improve control & efficiency and provide projects for individuals to develop their own personal skills- Requirements Essential Experience: - Excellent communication skills - written & verbal
- Intermediate / Advanced excel skills
- Educated to degree level - preferably having achived a 2:1 or above and from a mathematical, science or financial subject / or equivalent commercial experience
- Interest in the Financial / Investment banking sector
- Strong relationship management skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Must be attentive to detail, proactive and flexible
- Good analytical and reasoning skills
- Good Mathematical ability
Supplementary Experience (preferred but not essential): - Previous Back Office experience
- Previous Middle office experience
- Experience in an Analytical / Project based role
- Financial modelling experience
Responsibilities - Provide support to the London Desk Support Middle Office teams, who in turn provide dedicated support to the FO trading desks-
- Make sure that clients agree their trades and positions and ensure that accounts are corrected if a trade has been booked incorrectly-
- Action daily controls to keep the books as accurate as possible and spot areas where these need improved
- Gather Management Information on things such as; number of trade amendments, trade breaks, client queries, System outages and reports produced-
- Monitor trends and provide Management with possible solutions on how to improve processes and reduce the number of exceptions-
