Job Description The Emerging Markets Business is characterised by its extensive global footprint operating across numerous countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America and also by the diversity of its product range- This is a permanent finance role in Emerging Markets Business Unit Control team, with specific responsibility for the Complex Products P&L- The underlying asset class is primarily focused on Credit, with products such as Credit Default Swaps, First to Default Baskets, Credit Range Accrual Notes and Credit Linked Notes alongside interest rate and FX hedges- The complex desk is also responsible for the Emerging Market Loan Arbitrage business- The role will demand a focused mindset where delivery of key technical information within tight timescales is a regular output- The role will call upon the candidate to be able to deal with technical queries from the desk and senior finance staff- The candidate should ideally have experience of product control in relation to the products listed, and be confident enough to provide a credible challenge to the front office on reporting and pricing issues- Change is a constant feature of the environment we operate in, so the candidate must be able to adapt and respond to such changes, without comprising on delivery- Specific responsibilities will include - Responsibility for P&L production, reconciliation, analytical review and commentary for the Complex products desk-
- Month end balance sheet substantiation
- Close liaison with the Front Office to ensure the timely and efficient resolution of trader queries and provision of other ad-hoc business support-
- Close interaction with Emerging Markets IPV and Reserving team on pricing and valuation-
- Maintenance and development of the control environment-
- Project work covering strategic developments and efficiency initiatives
- Assist in systems testing as required
- Support GBM Finance core values and behaviours
Requirements Essential Experience: - Strong academic background, and qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Good product knowledge across all relevant products
- Active appreciation of general Financial Control concepts/requirements
- Strong Microsoft skills covering Excel and Access
Supplementary Experience: - Some experience of project work
- Demonstrated strong people, process and systems skills and understanding
- A proven track record in a Product Control role, preferably with both vanilla and more complex credit products
