Hiring Manager: Paul Barry Closing Date: 2 weeks from date of advertisement
Job Description Background: The Delta Rates and Inflation trading units within RLMCC consists of approximately 70 traders predominantly trading interest rate derivatives, bonds, FX forwards and inflation-linked products- The desk is supported by Delta and Inflation Trading BUC- Role: The role will be mainly focused on major projects within the Delta Trading BUC group, including production and review of Asset Protection Scheme (APS) reporting data, Derivatives Funding Project (DFP) testing and implementation, and collateral and balance sheet reporting- Responsibilities: - The candidate will have the following key responsibilities:-
- Production and review of monthly/quarterly APS reporting packs- Testing and implementation of DFP, working with stakeholders including Finance, IT and trading staff-
- Balance sheet substantiation project testing and review-
The individual will be required to establish collegiate working relationships, at all levels, with both the business and support areas (e-g- Market Risk, Operations, Middle Office as well as other areas within Finance) in order to provide an integrated and proactive approach to business development- Specific Responsibilities: APS reporting - Produce monthly/quarterly reporting packs using data provided by Operations team- I
- dentify opportunities to eliminate manual processes and improve control-
- Work with IT in speccing/testing new APS reporting system-
- Manage relationship with regional reporting contacts- Attend regular APS team meetings, ensuring BUC's viewpoint is represented-
- Field adhoc queries from finance and regulatory teams-
Derivatives Funding Project - Operate manual funding allocation process until DFP goes live-
- Work with traders and finance as well as IT, to ensure the needs of the business are represented when the new solution is developed-
- Identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes and improve control-
Balance sheet substantiation - Review current balance sheet substantiation process and identify control weaknesses
- Work with external audit, finance and compliance teams as well as IT/Projects to define requirements Perform initial testing-
- Assist and train BUC staff when the new system is rolled out-
Contribute significantly to individual development - Agree relevant development challenges that focus on improved delivery to customers or colleagues
- Actively identify and undertake relevant training in order to improve performance or enhance career development
- Agree appropriate and challenging objectives with line manager
Other generic responsibilities - Ensure the business area conducts its activity in accordance with all relevant external regulators and RBS policies-
- Ensure compliance with the regulatory and statutory requirements and RBS compliance policies and procedures affecting the business area-
- Report any breaches of regulations to Legal and Compliance-
- Ensure the business unit operates in accordance with stipulated risk management policies and procedures, covering market risk, credit risk and operational risk-
- Ensure failures and shortcomings in policies and procedures are reported
Requirements Essential Experience: - Graduate level (with a 1 st or 2:1) coupled with strong academic background (or equivalent from outside UK)
- Qualified accountant with 0 to 2yrs PQE within product control
- Must understand the basic principles of derivative pricing
- Strong Excel skills
- Good appreciation of the Investment Banking business
- Good understanding of Finance operations and processes
Supplementary Experience: - Strong grounding in interest rate, FX and debt market products
- Experience of inflation products desirable-
- Good working knowledge of International Accounting Standards
