| Job Description |
Job Description To comply with European Commission State Aid requirements, RBS agreed to make a series of divestments to be completed within 4 years from December 2009- We announced on 4 August that we have reached an agreement to sell to Santander the RBS branches in England and Wales and NatWest branches in Scotland as well as the personal and SME accounts attached to these branches, the Direct SME business and some Mid Corporate customers- The sale is expected to take 12-18 months to complete from signing on 4 August so this means that it will be business as usual for our customers and employees for the foreseeable future and we are therefore continuing to recruit for roles as usual- This role is in scope of the sale- - To support safe growth of Corporate Banking Division's UK assets and lending income by sanctioning borrowing applications from customers within delegated authority levels, in accordance with current policy / process / procedure-
- The pro actively identify opportunities to lend to good quality business customers-
- To monitor / control sanctioned advances, ensuring that problems are identified early and appropriate action is taken to mitigate the risk of loss to the Bank, including involvement of Credit Risk Management, Specialised Relationship Management and Global Restructuring Group as required-
- To work effectively with colleagues in the front line business to create and sustain a team lending culture-
- To raise credit skills / awareness in the front line business by the practical application of team lending principles and to clearly articulate Credit's expectations in relation to risk appetite, application quality, process compliance etc-
Requirements Skills / Experience - Experience / awareness of the Business & Commercial segment, either in a Credit or front line business role-
- Broad awareness of credit policy, economic, legal, regulatory, and where applicable specialist sector, issues affecting Business and Commercial Banking-
- Knowledge of financial accounts and understanding of key risk drivers-
- Analytical skills balanced by commercial awareness and a practical approach-
- Team player with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to facilitate learning and improvement of Relationship Manager credit skills and awareness-
- Able to plan and organise workload to ensure consistent achievement of agreed service standards-
- Knowledge of relevant underwriting processes and systems-
Other Role Requirements - To maintain technical and professional knowledge at the levels required to effectively sanction and control customer borrowing applications within the jobholder's remit-
- To maintain an understanding of the role of the Relationship Manager and the issues facing the front line business-
- To identify and take forward improvements to the credit process that create capacity and/or improve the customer proposition without compromising risk management-
- To build and maintain an effective network of contacts across RBSG and use these contacts to optimise risk management and customer service-
- To ensure that data held on credit systems is complete and accurate-
Technical Knowledge - ACIB or similar professional qualification and/or demonstrable underwriting track record and/or recent relationship management experience preferred-
Responsibilities Responsible for sanctioning borrowing applications within Delegated Authority levels - dependant on experience-
