Job Description We are looking for a Commercial Underwriter with specific experience of Insurance work- The successful applicant will join Underwriting team at NIG Watford- NIG support the general insurance needs of UK businesses through a comprehensive portfolio of insurance solutions, specifically developed for the SME market- . Roles at this level will be underwriting and developing profitable business and products within agreed guidelines- . Role holders will typically only work independently on defined projects-
Work Activities . You will make day to day decisions regarding the acceptance, rating and wording of insurance risks within agreed guidelines and agreed authority limits- . You will perform a range of duties which may include dealing with technical referrals, assisting with technical training and auditing, and the production and distribution of statistical information and other research- . You will work individually and collectively with other members of your team to provide technical support and add value- . You will develop key business stakeholder relationships (internal & external) in order to ensure they understand the overall business context and enable them to respond effectively to stakeholder concerns- . You will be expected to develop new business and maximise the value of current business on an ongoing basis- . You will also provide support & guidance to roles below on a day to day basis- . Ensure compliance with the principles/outcomes of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) within your team/department by demonstrating knowledge of the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles/outcomes, adhering to training and competency standards, demonstrating the Company values and, through accurate measurement and feedback of performance of the team/department, identifying opportunities for development and taking actions to address shortfalls- Requirements . Individuals at this level are likely to be CIP qualified and working towards ACII qualification and will possess an analytical approach with a high level of attention to detail- . You will have experience in an underwriting role / experience of the environment and type of work- . You will have a technical awareness/product breadth of underwriting which will be developed further during your time in the role and in the course of their studies- Responsibilities Representative Work Activities .
