Background
AXA Insurance is one of the largest general insurers in the UK and underwrites a broad range of products for individuals and businesses. Products are distributed primarily through brokers and corporate partners. The Property Owners Area is responsible for underwriting, servicing and development of Property Owners business from its Brokers and has an Income of 190m. Based in London, the Property Owners Area has four specialist trading teams who underwrite commercial risks via their designated brokers covering risks throughout the UK and Europe.
The role
The purpose of this job is to underwrite commercial property owners' risks from a designated panel of intermediaries within agreed authority levels, to achieve profitable growth in line with company and branch objectives. Key accountabilities are to; - Underwrite new and existing business profitability, accurately and in line with established Underwriting practice.
- Supply underwriting support to Account Managers as required.
- Maintain and develop business relationships with intermediaries.
- Produce timely and accurate documentation.
- Actively encourage generation of profitable new business.
- Respond to customers requests for information.
- Promote the business through a polite, helpful and willing attitude to all customers and colleagues external and internal.
- Assist and coach colleagues with technical and procedural aspects of underwriting, as required.
Skills, knowledge and behaviour
- Recent experience working in a Property Owners commercial underwriting environment.
- Property Owners underwriting experience a requirement.
- Sound market knowledge and items effecting trading issues.
- Driven by delivering to service standards and following business processes.
- Interpersonal/communication/sales/negotiation skills.
- Technical product knowledge.
- PC/mainframe systems/keyboard skills.
- Team focused.
- Effective time management skills.
- Understanding how this role relates to other Area functions.
