Job Description · Assist in the development of advanced MI to support the Business, especially in the area of Risk versus Income reporting and WIP recording/reporting- · Develop a thorough understanding/knowledge of data sources, related systems and data quality issues · Develop and enhance reports to present MI to different levels of staff, from RMs to Execs, either individually or in conjunction with other members of the team as required- · Investigate reconciliation and data quality issues/problems, liaising with individuals from appropriate areas e-g- Finance and Risk- · Support the Head of BIU by providing analysis, challenges, options and potential solutions to key issues and changes faced by the business- · Co-ordinate communication and raise pro-activity on capital management- · Develop awareness of market related data and other non-financial information relevant to improving performance related MI- · Undertake bespoke MI related projects as required in support of the wider Business Management needs of the Business- · Assist in providing training to staff on data significance, data sources, key metric definition and data quality issues as required- Deliverables & Experience · Delivery of Risk, Income, WIP reports which accurately reflect the state of the key business metrics, in a form that can be understood and used by relevant staff- · Delivery of processes to produce key reports in timely and accurate manner- Development of solutions to resolve/work around key issues/problems and meet management information needs- Experience · Basic knowledge of Banking concepts and information · Knowledge of the bank's processes, procedures and systems (could be learnt) · Experience in a role involving data analysis, investigation and presentation · Able to work in high pressure situation with changing priorities- · Good interpersonal, team and networking skills- · Self motivated and committed to overcome obstacles to deliver- Technical Skills · Excellent Access skills including: o Tables, Relationships & data integrity - essential o Queries (including action queries) - essential o Forms & Reports - essential o Some VBA (particularly functions) - an advantage but not a requirement o Macros - an advantage but not a requirement o Ability to generate standardised outputs from a sustainable process - essential · Highly skilled in use of Excel and Business Objects - an advantage but not a requirement · Specific experience of data cube technology (e-g- OLAP, ROLAP etc) and using SQL - an advantage but not a requirement The Individual Burning drive for results · Able to self motivate and use initiative to achieve assigned tasks · Responds to challenging and measurable goals and targets · Strives to meet accountabilities, targets and milestones · Acts quickly to resolve problems and issues Analytical Thinking · Ability to analyse/ interrogate complex data sets · Able to identify data errors/anomalies and devise appropriate solutions · Able to clearly articulate complicated data issues/errors at all levels · Ability to assimilate new information quickly and thoroughly · Uses reasoning to identity trends, associations and cause/effect relationships in information Gathering Information · Seeks relevant information, identifying subject matter experts (SME) and knowledge sources · Rigorously probes for and obtains deeper, more detailed/follow-up information · Identifies and collects less obvious information relevant to the business issue or task · Suggest new sources of information to add value For additional information on this role click here
