| Overview Of Department The Performance and Governance MI Development Team (COOT) are responsible for building databases, data feeds and MI presentation solutions for the COOT teams. The MI Development Team consists of a 6 members of staff based in Norwich , Sheffield and York , though these positions are advertised as York owing to the detailed work which will need to be completed alongside key personnel in York . About The Role Salary: £20,860 - £33,380 These roles involve two different levels of database development. At a basic level the role involves meeting database users in the business and fixing problems quickly, these systems will usually be built in Microsoft Access or Excel. At an enterprise level the role requires skills in ASP.net (ideally VB.net) and SQL Server Databases. The roles exist to support a particular project for 6 months. This role is very challenging, the role holder will need to be inventive and open to suggestions of new ways of working. The project is to delivery data capture solutions to front end business users in Customer Experience. The current user base for our capture solutions is in excess of 600 with more than one database transaction every second. In 6 months we aim to have doubled this capacity and increased the flexibility of the solution. It is very rewarding to see so many users using an application you’ve developed. This role is interesting in that it allows the role holder to get involved in the full life cycle of the project, from requirements capture, through design and build, to post implementation support and release to the business. Key Responsibilities · The role holder will be responsible for developing and maintaining a number of small and large scale database applications. · The role holder will have to work alone and use own initiative on some smaller scale developments. · The role holder will work in a team of professional developers when designing and building the enterprise wide scale solution.
