Job Description Coutts was founded in 1692 and has a distinguished and diverse history with banking records from the late 17th century- Today it forms part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group- Due to a period of maternity cover (9 months) we have an opportunity to be part of this small yet busy team which has responsibility for the archive and museum collection- The responsibilities for this role include:
Assisting in the promotion of the business by responding to enquiries from within Coutts and other areas of the Group
Supporting PR initiatives (particularly from within Marketing) and providing historical background as required
Undertaking listing and indexing of archive material and other archival functions- Please note: the role includes physical tasks such as lifting and carrying
Responding to external queries using the Coutts archives and supporting visiting researchers
Participating in client-facing activities, in particular the extensive programme of tours- These deliver the history of the business to clients and staff and are a major aspect of our work- They are required on an almost daily basis, including evenings
Requirements
A degree is required and an existing knowledge of archive work
Strong communication skills
Good presentation skills
Good IT skills
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently
The Individual The role could also suit an individual looking to undertake the post-graduate training course in Archive studies, as it would offer the necessary pre-training experience-
