Data Analyst The Asset Protection Scheme (APS) is a key part of the UK government's measures to restore stability and confidence in the banking sector and increase the capacity of banks to lend- It is the largest single Protection Scheme in the EU- Participating in the APS will allow RBS to enhance its financial strength and provide improved stability for customers by protecting ourselves against the risk of extreme loss during the next few years and therefore strengthening RBS capital position- As such, within the RBS Group, GBM (as well as UK Corporate & Retail and Ulster Bank) has established an APS Support Team with the remit to manage the respective reference data quality, documentation, reporting, calculations, and any claims that may arise which are associated to this pool of assets- Key Responsibilities There is an exciting opportunity within the GBM APS Support Team for strong candidates from a Fixed Income Operations or Prime Brokerage background- Due to the unique challenges presented by APS this role requires a flexible individual who thrives in a change environment-
Reporting to the Manager of Triggered Assets and Claims Team this role will include the following duties: · Working proactively with the Business to identify when assets covered by APS are triggered and to ensure that they are correctly recorded and monitored- · Review of the current claims process and the way in which RBS interacts with Her Majesty's Treasury (HMT)- Given the nature of APS this process will require constant review and refinement during the initial stages of the role- · Ensuring that the hand off of information is correctly managed · Assisting with the preparation of the Quarterly statement prepared for HMT- · Analysis and continued improvement of the existing control framework · Ensuring adherence to Sarbanes Oxley controls · Ad hoc project work and input into related work streams · Testing related to the medium-term IT solution Working closely with the Business Units to understand where required information is stored, how it can be accessed and feeding this back into APS Operations in order to challenge the deadlines being set by HMT - Success Criteria . Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential Experience: (Must have skills)
. Proven coupon and redemption processing experience; exposure to European, US and emerging markets- . Front to back trade process knowledge . Proven cash / stock reconciliations and investigations . Knowledge of EuroCear / ClearStream . Working Knowledge of Bloomberg or Reuters . Exposure/understanding of Fixed Income static data- . Understanding of coupon and redemption calculations- . Good understanding of process improvement, having seen the full lifecycle from inception to implementation- . Highly IT literate with excellent MS Excel and Access skills . Ability to operate in a rapidly evolving and changing environment with a minimum of supervision . Problem solving ability, being able to bring previous experience to bear to help solve specific problems as well as improve processes and efficiency
