A great opportunity has arisen for a Private Banker with proven experience and a successful track record in the Asia Pacific markets to join a highly motivated team within Coutts International Private Banking- Working out of prestigious London offices, this position will appeal to candidates with a passion for their markets and a good network of contacts-
Role Purpose - Accountability for delivery of team revenue and volume sales target
- Sales management of a team of Private Bankers
- Provide mentoring / coaching support to Private Bankers within Team
- Build profitable wealth management relationships with a portfolio of complex and/or high value clients
- Maximise income from that portfolio by understanding clients' requirements and increasing the penetration of products to the customer base
- Be a supportive member of the team
- To monitor and control activity within a regulatory and compliant framework
- Provide mentoring / coaching support to juniors
Key Responsibilities - Contribute to profit, sales and product targets of the Client Group by selling appropriate wealth management services to the portfolio of clients
- Become the trusted advisor to clients, providing guidance across the full range of wealth management products, and a consistent, credible and accessible point of contact for clients
- Increase the penetration of wealth management products within the existing and new client base
- Expand the size and quality of client base through initiating new relationships, developing existing ones and developing relationships with centres of influence, to increase penetration of wealth management market
- Provide specialist product knowledge to other team members when required
- Ensure opportunities which fall outside the scope of the Client Group are captured by the most appropriate segment for the client's needs
- Work with the Senior Manager to ensure that performance management information is accurately recorded and presented
- Maintain high level of segment/industry knowledge and willingly share this knowledge with colleagues
- Undertake appropriate ongoing professional development
- In conjunction with other Private Bankers, ensure the most effective use of Private Banking Officers (PBAs)
- Manage the time and content of an aligned PBA on a day-to-day basis
- Provide performance evaluations and reviews for reporting PBAs
- Identify and implement general, product and Client Group specific training for reporting PBAs
- Act as a role model for junior staff
- Maintain and enhance RBS group contacts in new segmented role and ensure the continued flow of introductions which should be channelled to the appropriate Client Group
- To act in accordance with the regulatory requirements and standards under the Financial Services Authority (FSA)
- To be fully aware of the obligations and responsibilities placed on individuals who are registered under the FSA's Approved Person regime, in respect of their role and conduct
The Individual - Ideally graduate calibre
- Must be fluent in English and Mandarin/Cantonese
- Must be an active networker with HNW Asia Pacific clients and/or have an existing client base/network from the region-
For those without relevant professional qualifications, the following are Coutts preferred qualifications from the list of FSSC appropriate exams: - SII Certification (Certificate in Securities & Derivatives for Retail Clients)
- OR Investment Management Certificate
- CeMap or Certificate in Mortgage Advice
For those with existing professional qualifications, theses should be in accordance with the FSSC list appropriate to the role (see Coutts UK T&C website) Other Technical Skills or Knowledge - Achieved outstanding success over a significant period at senior manager / partner level in a legal, accountancy, financial advisory, investment or private banking environment
- Strong knowledge of tax, banking, investment, or financial planning is essential
- Sales / business development experience essential
- Track record of successful revenue generation, selling and closing deals
- Track record of developing client relationships
